5. The Duke of Wellington

Address: 146 Flinders St

Melbourne’s oldest licensed pub serves up dependable pub fare in a bright, modern setting. There’s a rooftop bar, but we prefer the quieter downstairs area for lunch. A great spot if you’re after a classic chicken parma or a roast of the day with a cold beer.

6. Cumulus Inc.

Address: 45 Flinders Ln

Distance: 280m

If you feel like something a little bit fancy but still welcoming, Cumulus is a go-to. The produce is seasonal and beautifully prepared — salads, cured meats, grilled fish — and the service is warm but not fussy. A great place to slow down and enjoy lunch.

Note it’s a small shop and there is limited seating available. Great for a grab-and-go option, it’s not like our gelatos usually last long anyway!

Tip: We always head across the road to Clementine’s after our dessert. It’s the most beautiful little shop selling locally made goods.
