Melbourne is a city steeped in history, and there’s no better way to experience its rich past than at the Australian Heritage Festival. Running from 18 April to 18 May 2025, this month-long celebration brings history to life through over 250 events across Victoria, from the heart of Melbourne to the farthest reaches of the state.
This year’s theme, Unearthed, shines a light on hidden histories, untold stories, and long-lost traditions. 1. The Alchemy of Gold – The Golden Transformation of Victoria

When: 16–18 May 2025
The discovery of gold in the 1850s changed Victoria forever.
