Affordable Art Fair: What to Expect in 2026

1. Venue & Ambience

Hosted under the historic dome of the Royal Exhibition Building, one of the few surviving 19th-century exhibition complexes globally, this venue offers architecture and ambiance that elevate the art-viewing experience.

2. Dates & Duration

While the official 2026 schedule is yet to be confirmed, previous fairs have run from late August, typically over four days, with a VIP preview and public access following. Expect something similar in August 2026.

3. Artworks for Every Budget

True to the Fair’s ethos, artworks are typically priced between AUD $100 and $10,000, ensuring affordability without compromising quality.

4. Exhibitors & Galleries

Expect a rich mix of Australian and international galleries, spanning emerging talent to established names. In 2025, up to 70 galleries participated—likely a similar or expanded offering in 2026.

5. Interactive Programs & Experiences

Engaging experiences are a hallmark. Look forward to live painting demos in the Artists in Action zone, a Children’s Art Studio, and programs like Discover: Young Talent spotlighting artists under 35. The 2025 edition included a creative studio led by Tenyka Jay with colourful murals and face painting, plus a mural and interactive art installations.

6. Access and Services

The Affordable Art Fair is family- and accessibility-friendly, with step-free access, and a welcoming atmosphere for first-time and seasoned art buyers alike.

The Affordable Art Fair also offers free wrapping for artworks, making it easier to transport purchases home or to your vehicle.

Kathy’s review

The Affordable Art Show was one such event that was just so enticing that, rather than miss out on this opportunity, I went alone as my friend couldn’t come as planned. I had a morning immersed in stimulating, informative conversations with the stall holders and artists.

The art works included paintings, various crafts such as weaving and pottery, and photography. The latter really caught my attention.

Photographer Sam Weston and his wife travel all countries and continents capturing exquisite places and moments in the wild. I was in awe of his sensitivity and enjoyed very much the experience of viewing the world through his lens.

Understandably, many of the art works in the show were maybe not so affordable but his collection included works of various and affordable prices.
