Her Melbourne Rooftop & BKK Thai Restaurant: Midweek Magic
Last week, we decided to shake things up with a midweek lunch outing, and Her Melbourne on Lonsdale Street delivered the perfect blend of cosy dining and rooftop splendour.
If you’ve been looking for a venue that combines great value with a touch of indulgence, this might just be the spot for you.

Her Melbourne Rooftop
Her Melbourne is a dynamic, multi-level venue offering a nice mix of dining, drinks, music, and art across its four distinct spaces. Among these is BKK, a Thai BBQ canteen situated on the third floor, known for its Bangkok-inspired street food served from a fiery open-concept kitchen.
Directly above BKK is Her Rooftop, an open-air bar that provides patrons with city views and a vibrant atmosphere. This vertical arrangement allows guests to enjoy a tasty meal at BKK before ascending to the rooftop for cocktails amidst Melbourne’s skyline.
Cosy Comforts at BKK Restaurant
We start our visit on the third floor, where BKK’s warm, intimate vibe sets the scene for a relaxed lunch. The standout? Their $15 noodle lunch special. Think steaming bowls of fragrant Thai-inspired goodness that feel like a hug in a bowl.
The staff are friendly and efficient, making it easy to see why BKK is a favourite for city workers and lunch-goers alike.

Lunch Special
The $15 Noodles at BKK may change seasonally, but most often are available Monday to Friday from 11.30 am til 3.00 pm.
The current lineup includes:
– Wok Fried Pork & Prawn Noodles with Egg & Chinese Broccoli.
– Beef Brisket Egg Noodle Soup with Bean Sprouts & Crispy Chilli.
– Yum Mama Noodle Salad with Chicken, Celery, Tomato & Lime.

Rooftop Revelry
Feeling adventurous, we take the stairs up to Her Rooftop, and the climb is absolutely worth it. If stairs aren’t your thing, no worries—a lift is available, along with an accessible toilet, ensuring everyone can enjoy the space comfortably.
Once on the rooftop, we are greeted by sunshine, vibrant greenery, and stunning city views. It feels like we’ve stumbled into a chic garden party in the middle of the Melbourne skyline. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming—perfect for a leisurely cocktail.
Speaking of cocktails, the menu here is a treat. We splurge on a couple of their fruity creations, which feel like little glasses of sunshine. While the cocktails lean towards the pricier side, the quality and setting make it a worthwhile indulgence.

Terrie’s review
The city of Melbourne has so many interesting eateries of many cuisines, we just have to be adventurous and look. Google Thai food and BKK Restaurant on Level 3, 270 Lonsdale St. comes up and honestly, this is worth the trip.
Lovely old building, although the entrance can be quite deceiving. You walk straight off the footpath into lifts which take you to the 3rd floor. The seating along the windows gives a very interesting view of the other surrounding buildings. Our lunch-time food was totally delicious. My daughter and I shared plates of spring rolls, dumplings, noodles, all very good.
Let’s check out the rooftop bar was the next suggestion, so up we went. What a surprise. Open air, looking out to an amazing view, casual lounge seating, some chairs under umbrellas. Some of us seniors would be wise to have a hat on as some spots were not undercover. Who could resist a cocktail in this amazing setting? A great atmosphere with a variety of age groups of people, all chatting and enjoying socialising.

The Verdict
Her Melbourne has something for everyone. Whether you’re after a budget-friendly noodle lunch or a glamorous rooftop experience, it’s the kind of place that can turn a regular weekday into something special.
