High Tea at Park Lounge, Park Hyatt Melbourne: A Special Treat with a View
If you’re looking for an elegant weekend outing in Melbourne—something a little fancy without being fussy—High Tea at Park Lounge ticks all the boxes.
I am excited to take my parents and kids along for a special family afternoon. It’s held at the Park Hyatt Melbourne, and from the moment we walk in, it feels like a real treat. The views are spectacular. The scones are unforgettable. And the whole experience leaves us feeling properly spoiled.

High Tea at Park Lounge: An Elegant Escape Above the City
Perched on Level 19 of the Park Hyatt Melbourne, the Park Lounge offers panoramic views of the city skyline. It’s one of those places that instantly makes you sit up straighter and breathe a little deeper, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, sophisticated setting, and peaceful atmosphere.
Even before you reach the lounge, the Park Hyatt impresses. It really does feel like a special occasion from the moment you walk in.

Terrie’s High Tea Review
For a special occasion, High Tea at Park Lounge, Park Hyatt, is a real treat. The building itself is beautiful. The foyer with the wood and marble columns, amazing staircase, even the lifts were beautiful. The view from Park Lounge on the 19th floor was amazing. How wonderful is our City of Melbourne.
We were welcomed and well looked after. The food was decadent, the matcha and citrus scones, with 3 different jam offerings, were delicious. Various flavours of tea or coffee were on offer. My favourite is the Earl Grey and this choice did not disappoint. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed being spoiled by our daughter and it was a delight to have our 2 granddaughters join us.
Easy ramp access for wheelchairs, as well as a disabled toilet facility. We caught the tram from Southern Cross station to Parliament House and the Park Hyatt was just a short walk from there. A lovely outing.

Tips from Our Visit
- Book Ahead: High Tea is popular and only available on weekends. You’ll need to book online and provide credit card details to hold the reservation.
- Dietary Needs: If you have allergies or dietary requirements, let them know at least 48 hours ahead. They may not be able to accommodate requests made on the day.
- Kid-Friendly Touches: Children are offered kid-friendly food and hot chocolate with decorated froth. The city views keep our kids busy playing spotto—and we’re told that on some days, the hotel’s friendly dog is around for pats.
- Accessibility: Lifts, ramp access and a disabled toilet are available, which makes things easy for our group.
- Getting There: Catch a tram or train to Parliament Station. From there, it’s a short, pleasant walk to the Park Hyatt.

Is It Worth the Price?
At $98 per adult , it’s definitely a splurge—but one that feels justified. The attention to detail, the quality of the food, and the setting all combine to create a memorable experience. Kids are welcome too, with a special price of $50, and our kids loved feeling grown-up with their own teacups and tiered tray.
One handy perk is the discounted valet parking at $40 for the duration of your High Tea—worth considering if you’re driving in.
