Our Review of Dorsett Melbourne
After a very interesting day in the City we made our way to 615 Little Lonsdale Street to the Dorsett Hotel. As soon as we entered the staff were very attentive and helpful. The Jin Bar looked very inviting, but we made our way to the 8th floor to our room. I loved the décor, the white bed linen against the black side tables and granite tops gave a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Loved the little balcony overlooking other buildings. The shower was amazing.. Very roomy and so nice to have the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash supplied.
After a cup of tea from the coffee station, and a little rest on the bed, it was downstairs to have some dinner. The Jin Bar was full of young people celebrating office Christmas parties, so Michael (head drinks and food waiter) escorted my husband and me to the Club Lounge , where we had the best personal service ever. A very good 3 course meal and a couple of cocktails, we felt on top of the world.
For a couple of seniors who are not used to spending a night in a hotel in Melbourne, we found The Dorsett gave us excellent service. We did not make use of the hot tub, jacuzzi, sauna or swimming pool this time.
After a good night’s sleep we sauntered down to the 2nd floor breakfast room. Again such wonderful décor. Black and white tiled floor, lots of breakfast delicacies to choose from. Tables inside and out. Again we opted to eat out on the balcony. It was a beautiful morning, we soaked up the morning freshness and the scenery of the amazing tall buildings. The City really has a vibe of it’s own that we are starting to appreciate more and more. The location is great too as we travelled in by train. We’ll be back!

An outstanding hotel stay I remember was over forty years ago when I spent a week relaxing on one of those small dots on a map of the Pacific Ocean. What made that experience memorable was the welcoming way the islander staff made me feel, like I was part of their family.
Similar emotions were evoked this week when we stayed overnight in inner-city Melbourne at The Dorsett.
After a busy day, my wife and I had such an enjoyable and relaxing time. Without exception, all The Dorsett staff made us feel very special, like we were much-loved grandparents coming for a visit.
In the heart of our busy capital, entering a hotel with over 300 rooms I felt amazingly peaceful. Check-in went smoothly, the room was fantastic, bed very comfortable, dinner and breakfast next level… but the thing I will remember longest is the warm and attentive welcome we were given.
