Luxurious Lola: Airbnb Apartment Melbourne
My Grandparents lived in suburban Melbourne and, as a young child, I remember the excitement of travelling from our farm for a visit.
It was great to see Nanna and Grandpa but what I really liked was their quaint little house and the many fascinating curios lovingly displayed in the different rooms. Many happy hours were spent wandering around looking and playing with objects that nowadays you only find in antique or collectible shops.
Six or seven decades on, life has changed and I never really thought about how much I enjoyed those expeditions… until Lola.
Lola, Melbourne is a luxurious “olden days style” modern apartment retreat in the City’s centre, tastefully appointed with treasures from the past.
At a loose end in town for the night, my wife and I were pondering going to a movie but, once we settled into Lola, we were enchanted by the many fascinating artefacts and the displayed stories. So we decided to stay in.
With background music from the working record player and whilst sipping complimentary port from antique glasses, we sat and read. And allowed the relaxing ambience of Lola to rekindle old memories into the night.
I reckon, any out-of-towner contemplating a Seniors in Melbourne stay, will love Lola.

Our Review
After shopping in the city, my husband and I looked forward to checking into our Little Lonsdale St apartment. Going up to the 10th Floor of 538 Lt Lonsdale St building, we opened the door to “Lola” and entered the most beautiful apartment. It instantly brought about a calming, warming, inviting atmosphere.
We didn’t know where to look first as there were so many antique/vintage items, all so interesting and displayed so beautifully.
The furniture and carefully thought out décor were all from another era and so homely. One could take ages just looking at everything and reading all the stories. I loved the Chiffonier and how special to have a complimentary port, from an exquisite carafe with crystal glasses and chocolate. The well-equipped kitchen also delighted with gorgeous teacups, and a great selection of tea and coffee.
We did have coffee on the balcony a bit later on. A wonderful view, and later that night an amazing full moon. The 2 bedrooms were again lovingly and thoughtfully fitted out, and the queen bed was very comfortable. This apartment was so charming we opted to get take-away and eat in rather than go out for dinner.

Our Review
This over-70 senior girl chose to soak in the bath after dinner! Even though there is a handrail on the wall, it was a bit difficult getting in and out of the actual bathtub. So just be careful. But the bath itself was relaxing and I appreciated the hand-blended Relaxation Bath Soak.
An unusual thing for us was collecting the key to this amazing apartment from the Concierge building located at 200 Spencer Street. It really was only a short walk to the actual apartment building in Lt Lonsdale St. There is a car park available but we had come into the city by public transport.
This overnight stay at “Lola” was a very delightful experience. We really felt welcomed by all the thoughtful notes and the interesting pieces for us to handle and marvel at the history. The old record player was a real hit. I would recommend this for a special occasion, or why not just any occasion to spoil oneself? Definitely will make another booking. Loved it.
