I do not have the knowledge of a great wine aficionado but I do know I love drinking it, in moderation of course.
I’m fascinated by how the flavours and characteristics of a wine have subtle changes that are able to bring to mind a particular grape variety, geographical location and environment.
It seems to me that sometimes the big corporate wine makers have a “brand” taste profile for particular varietals that they try to replicate no matter what the region or season, whereas the smaller wineries, not having to maintain a particular flavour, produce exciting and different experiences, respecting the grape and climate nuances and showcasing the individual winemaker’s passion and skills.
Being introduced to Naked Wines is like finding an online cellar door, a way to access and support a group of 60+ independent and unique Australian and New Zealand wineries in the smaller category referred to above.
Wine prices are very reasonable, particularly if you have a membership, there are choices to suit every palate. My favourite wine that Naked Wines sent me was the Pinot Gris crafted by Geoff Thompson, McLaren Vale, SA, it paired wonderfully with my Seafood Paella.
They have a no-fuss refund policy if you are not happy with any wine but, if the Naked Wines selections I have sampled are an indication of quality, you will never need a refund.
