I attended a Tribute to Queen Candlelight Concert at the Fitzroy Town Hall.
As the lights dimmed, a hush fell over the audience. The flicker of countless candles created a warm, inviting glow. The setting was perfect for what was to come – a tribute to Queen by the string quartet, Eclective Strings.
It was mesmerising to hear all of my favourite classic rock songs transformed into something so elegant and refined. The musicians’ passion was evident, each note played with precision and emotion.
The string quartet played hits like “We Will Rock You” and “Somebody to Love.” Each song brought a fresh wave of nostalgia. The acoustics of Fitzroy Town Hall amplified the music beautifully, making each note crisp and clear. It was easy to lose oneself in the moment, surrounded by the gentle glow of candlelight and the magic of Queen’s music.

After having my own wonderful experience, I just knew I had to send my parents along to a Candlelight Concert of their own. They attended a tribute to Hans Zimmer at the Geelong West Town Hall. Here are some of their thoughts on the experience:
I would never have dreamt that four stringed instruments could produce such beautiful music to hold a hall full of people, us two Seniors included, spellbound for 80 minutes.
That was before last night’s Candlelight Concert at Geelong West Town Hall.
Two violins, a viola and cello used so masterfully by the four musicians from Eclective Strings, hundreds of, (very realistic), electric candles flickering a warm, expectant ambience into all corners of the historic Civic Building and music, sometimes wafting, sometimes stirring, highlighting well-known silver-screen compositions by Hans Zimmer made this a very memorable evening.
I reckon that it wouldn’t matter what music genre is being presented at a Candlelight Concert, the mood engendered by the hundreds of candles combined with the amazing sounds extracted by the musicians will take anyone’s enjoyment to new heights.

Attending a Candlelight Concert at the Geelong West Town Hall… All I can say is “Wowsers!”
Two females on the Violins, one male on the Viola, one male on the Cello, calling themselves Eclective Strings. These four talented people brought a bit of heaven to earth! I was mesmerised the entire time.
The music was so beautiful. And the four musicians amongst a thousand candles was so beautiful. Such an enjoyable, captivating concert and I was still floating for the rest of the night.
